Miranda Beltzer, PhD
Postdoctoral Fellow
Show InterestsMiranda Beltzer is interested in developing scalable interventions that target cognitive biases and emotion dysregulation in mood and anxiety disorders and integrating these interventions into medical settings. Her prior research investigated how socially anxious and depressed individuals interpret and learn from positive and negative feedback. She also worked on a system to recommend emotion regulation strategies based on a person’s current context, and examined large-scale processes related to mental illness stigma in America. Dr. Beltzer earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology with a minor in Quantitative Psychology from the University of Virginia. She completed her clinical internship at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Her clinical training has included delivering evidence-based psychological interventions in diverse medical settings, including family medicine, pediatrics, and neurology departments.

Sooyeon Jeong, PhD
Postdoctoral Fellow
Show InterestsSooyeon Jeong's research focuses on designing and deploying interactive agents that can improve people's lives by providing personalized support based on each user's needs, traits and behaviors. She deploys these agents "in-the-wild" to evaluate how they build relationships/rapport with people over time and improve their wellbeing, health and learning. Dr. Jeong believes relational technologies can be more than just tools and become helpful companions for people by continuously adapting themselves to help users achieve their health goals. She received a S.B. and a M.Eng. from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at MIT, and a S.M. and a Ph.D in Media Arts and Sciences from MIT Media Lab.
Caitlin Stamatis, PhD
Postdoctoral Fellow
Show InterestsCaitlin Stamatis’s research interests are in characterizing risk and maintenance factors for anxiety and obsessive-compulsive (OC) spectrum disorders, with the goal of identifying modifiable treatment targets. Her work covers three interrelated topics, which intersect her interest in advanced quantitative methods: (1) experimental approaches to studying cognition-emotion interactions; (2) the influence of language on cognitive risk factors; and (3) the utility of personal sensing in quantifying and treating anxiety and OC-spectrum symptoms. Dr. Stamatis received her BA in psychology and comparative literature from Columbia University, after which she was awarded a Fulbright ffellowship to Andorra. She completed her PhD in clinical psychology, with a quantitative specialization, at the University of Miami, and her predoctoral residency at Weill Cornell Medicine/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.

Bayley J. Taple, PhD
Postdoctoral Fellow
Show InterestsBayley earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Her research interests comprise multidisciplinary psychosocial assessment and intervention within obstetrics and gynecology, the influence of trauma on health, and patient-reported outcomes. Dr. Taple’s work as a postdoctoral fellow focuses on technology-supported perinatal mental health care. During her graduate studies, she completed a NIDDK-funded T32 predoctoral fellowship and collaborated on a mobile app assessment for urologic chronic pelvic pain syndromes. Her dissertation examined the impact of trauma history and depression on chronic pelvic pain severity. Dr. Taple has a background in health psychology and women’s behavioral health; she completed her clinical internship at Rush University Medical Center.

Thomas Massion
Master's Student
Show InterestsThomas is a current Master’s student in Clinical Psychology at the Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine. His research focuses on developing tools for digital mental health interventions, and his interests include human-centered design in mental health interventions, adolescent mental health, and addiction. Thomas previously worked as a Research Analyst at the University of Chicago Urban Education Institute where he created actionable indicators of academic success for middle grades students and developed online data tools to facilitate access to academic achievement data for Chicago elementary schools. Prior to that, Thomas obtained his B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Northwestern University.

Anjay Saklecha
Volunteer Research Assistant
Show InterestsAnjay Saklecha is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences and a minor in Science and Human Culture as a member of Northwestern University's Honors Program in Medical Education. He is interested in investigating the intersection of medicine and technology as he seeks to understand problems in access to healthcare and novel solutions around improving health disparities. After graduation, he plans to attend Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. In his free time, Anjay enjoys playing tennis, surfing, dancing, and watching movies with his friends.

Clarisa Wijaya
Master's Student
Show InterestsClarisa is a Clinical Psychology Master’s Candidate at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and a graduate research assistant at Center for Behavioral Intervention Technologies (CBITs) working with Dr. Emily Lattie & Dr. Ashley Knapp. Her overarching research interest include promoting health equity and accessibility to mental health services by developing and implementing digital mental health interventions among underserved youth population. Clarisa completed her BA in Psychology at the University of Southern California in 2021, where she also worked as a research assistant at Children's Hospital Los Angeles.

Novia Wong
Volunteer Research Assistant
Show InterestsCurrently, Novia is a PhD student at University of California, Irvine, advised by Professor Madhu Reddy. Novia’s research interest focuses on using a user-centered design approach to design technological interventions for individuals with mental health needs, particularly youth and young adults. She is interested in studying mental health literacy among youth and families with different cultures, self management interventions, and care team collaboration. Prior to her PhD, Novia worked as a product designer at a healthcare technology startup and received her Master's in Information with a focus on UX Research and Design from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
