Rachel Kornfield, PhD

Assistant Professor

Dr. Kornfield completed her PhD in Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2018), followed by an NIMH-funded postdoctoral fellowship at CBITs (2018-2020). Her research draws on multidisciplinary training in health communication, human-computer interaction (HCI), and behavior change theories and techniques, and focuses on the role of supportive communication within digital mental health interventions, including communication with peers, mental health professionals, and automated messaging systems (from simple text messaging programs to sophisticated chatbots). She is particularly interested in applying computer-tailoring to connect individuals with mental health concerns to the right kind of support, at the right time.
