Dr. Gureje has a long history of epidemiological and clinical research and has conducted some of the largest studies in Sub-Saharan Africa of adults and children seeking care in primary care as well as residing in the community. His research interests include: epidemiology, mental-physical co-morbidity, dementia, schizophrenia, and aging. He has a wide experience in participating in and coordinating multi-site collaborative efforts having been involved in some of the largest research collaborations in mental health, including the on-going World Mental Health Survey. One of his current research interests is the development and evaluation of mobile support for mental health service in primary care settings in Nigeria.
